Fun in Huntsville

First pedicure I've had in years (since right before the Great High Mountain concert at the Beacon Theatre, when a pedicurist at Scott J on 72nd Street was like to kill me with her nail file and scared me off the concept of pedicures for, well, years).  Preceded by a swim at Karen's health club and lunch out, succeeded by a visit to a farmers' market (got Alabama peaches and a bag of fresh purple hull peas to come back with me in the morning) and an Earth Fare store (a North Carolina-based organic foods store that was like Whole Foods, but was refreshingly not Whole Foods), where I picked up a melatonin-valerian thing that I'll try tomorrow night to see if it'll help me sleep, also a trail mix Karen said was really good (and not just because of the chocolate chips).  Back at the house, Allison did her magic on my hair, inspiring me to practice and become better at working with it.  And we watched the Mets crumble in the face of the Braves for the second night in a row.  Glad to be Yankee fan and not a Mets fan these days... although my New Yorker heart does feel pangs when the Mets do things like that.

Used my Southwest frequent flyer ticket yesterday to book a trip to go to Rhode Island at the end of September for the New England Sacred Harp Convention - not one that's usually on our schedule, but Lynne is vice chair, which means a lot, and it's nice to have a singing weekend to look forward to (unfortunately, tickets back here for the United Convention are now too expensive - but I wasn't thinking ahead when they were cheaper).  Also, this evening (technically last evening), late, I finally got the estimate from Steve the contractor, which I liked, but it left out the laundry tub and drain, so I've responded asking about that, and about when he thinks they would be able to get started.

Getting on to 1 a.m., and I need to go to bed (came up almost an hour ago to do that and got distracted by the computer).  Wednesday, tomorrow/today, I drive back to Algonquin.  I have this awful feeling I'm expecting Jerry to be there when I get there.  It is going to feel awful when I get there and he's not.

P.S. 1 September = Karen has medical insurance again.  Yay.
